Zippy Zigzags

Mister Zimi dress, Portmans blazer, McQueen tote, Zara heels

Quick post before I zip off to savour the flavours of Singapore (chewing/eating has finally resumed some form of normality - chicken rice / kaya toast here I come!) before heading back to Melbourne tonight. Shot this classic-with-a-twist outfit a couple of weeks back. I have come to realise that I looove the simplicity of black and white - easily to almost be classified lazy or boring but when done well is anything but. Mister Zimi's graphic prints are always a thrill to browse and Shopbop's extra 25% off sale emails resulted in this gorgeous patent leather tote. As always, white blazers triumph over black for me, though I do need a good black one - please direct your suggestions this way.

Currently lusting over these Alexander Wang heels. Help.

Blue and green should never be seen

Sportsgirl top, Asos pants & heels, Amaleia necklace & bracelet

Since the last time we met, I have achieved some pretty major milestones in my life. My trio performed at the wonderful Melbourne Recital Centre (get clicking, we're even doing concerts soon!) - thrilling experience. Two days later, I got my wisdom teeth pulled out. All four of them. Not my ideal holiday, but probably not as horrific as it could have been. I'm still regaining control of my own mouth. But of course, you'd already know that if we were insta-friends!

My favourite (and the easiest) way to dress up slouchy pants like these is to pair them with heels. Or sneaker wedges. This outfit IS easy weekend couch-to-brunch comfort, jazzed up with the simplest of Amaleia jewels.

Kaleidoscopic

Jolie & Deen print dress and pants, Nasty Gal jacket, Jo Mercer heels

Recent self high-fives: when you score a gorgeous 6-cup teapot set for $8, when the basil chocolate cookies you baked turned out awesome, when a double dose of matching prints work, and even more so when you manage ultimate versatility by wearing a dress as a top.

I'll let Jolie & Deen's kaleidoscopic prints do the rest of the talking.

The Green Monster

Carrie & Moss dress, Nasty Gal jacket, Siren shoes

Green Monsters: power-packed smoothies full of nutritional goodness - ridiculously green; refreshing. Incidentally, that was the first thing that sprung to mind as I flicked through the pictures. I bring to you the second of my bridesmaid-to-street challenge with Carrie & Moss. There is something about a sneaker wedge that is able to dress up or down an outfit in a way that strangely, neither sneakers nor wedges can. I hereby deem it the most versatile shoe of the season. The metallic moto jacket was bought on a whim (one of those late night online sale trawls, you know how it is) and straight into the closet it went, never again seeing the light of day. Until I had a lightbulb moment and the tonal dressing part of my brain took over - 'why not load colour, with even more colour?' is the philosophy here. I love the satisfaction when shades of colour come together, none competing for the limelight and instead, complementing one another gracefully. Somewhat comparable to a green smoothie, no?

The Superhero Scarf

Jolie & Deen dress, Her Fashion Box scarf, Zara shoes

I am a self-professed lover of scarves. Honestly, whether you turn instantly into a walking icypole as soon as the wind blows, or feel quietly smug and give yourself an inner imaginary high-five depends solely (or mostly, anyway) on whether that little neck region of yours is adequately covered. So I couldn't have been more excited upon finding this gorgeous printed maxi scarf tucked neatly within a secret surprise package from Her Fashion Box. For one, it is highly versatile - initial thoughts: neckwarmer, shawl, supehero cape, sarong, nifty cover-up dress at the beach, an oversized sash, even? Naturally I went with the superhero cape option to wear over yet another printastic design by Jolie & Deen - with subtle prints that were sure to make fast friends, how could I resist?!
