SHADES OF LIGHT

Zara blouse, Dorothy Perkins cardi, ASOS jeans and rings, Zara heels, Orelia for ASOS necklace

Thoroughly delighted with the fact that I am able to wear sheer tops, AND roll up both my sleeves and jeans to show off double ankle-strapped sandals, without being at the risk of hypothermia. I've missed my soft shades and layers - it's just that much more uplifting, no? Keeping it simple with gold and this beautifully delicate braided necklace by Orelia. My love for that British brand definitely isn't going away anytime soon.

The weeks have been flying by way too quickly, and I'm itching for a short interstate trip during the holidays - Sydney? Tasmania? Also, I need to do creative things with my hair. Ideas?

MSFW City Square Runway: Wittner

Wittner put on a spectacular runway show for the audience at City Square. The iconic Australian shoe brand, celebrating it's centenary year in the business, showed that they were surely keeping things afresh. I was hooked, right from start to the very end. The first model peeked out and boogied down the runway in neon pink heels. That's right, dancing models! (Or modelling dancers. Perspective.) We knew we were in for a treat.

Neon Life
Clad in identical blue onesies and neon heels, I was definitely impressed by how they had managed to incorporate a snazzy dance routine onto the runway.

Athletic Attitude
The 'sport luxe' trend has been hanging around for awhile, sneaker wedges that suggest a combination of style and comfort. I certainly was slow in warming up to this trend, but the white ones up there are my fave :)

Pastel Dreams
Soft, feminine pastels are here to stay this summer. Go all out in colour top to toe, complete with cupcakes in hand?

Punk Odyssey
The other extreme - sharp black on black looks punked up with slashed leggings, whips, chains and studs.

Centenary Collection
A glittery shimmery delight as models showed off sequinned evening dresses and a special collection of ten shoes that were handcrafted with Swarovski crystals. These heels in a selection of brights and nudes will be auctioned off in the coming weeks for charity.

Loved the appropriately-themed concepts, that was backed up not only by the shoes but also the careful detail in the rest of the outfits as well as the dance-runway routines as a whole. It was very much a refreshingly engaging performance as it was a platform to showcase the new Spring/Summer collection!

MSFW: David Jones Runway

Melbourne Spring Fashion Week is off to a solid start! City Square has been transformed into fashion central for the week - hair and make-up stations for all are housed within the white tents, even speedy nail bars thanks to Mecca, and of course, the free runway shows.

An eager crowd awaited the start of the David Jones runway at 12pm, which showcased a multitude of Spring Racing outfits. Ladies were presented with an array of brights, pastels, and monochrome while the gents sported sharp suits with a splash of colour. They were also constantly reminded to pay attention to detail and polish their shoes.

FAVE #1
FAVE #2
Photos by me

Top two faves in the whole line-up that I would readily pounce on were the Camilla & Marc neon tangerine swing dress paired with purple and green florals (anyone notice the polka dot heels?), as well as the super sleek Carla Zampatti jumpsuit!

Looking forward to tomorrow already. Feel free to hop onto instagram (@nicoletj) or be tweet pals (@xblankbird) for the latest. Who will I be seeing there? x

SPRINGTIME

Sportgirl jumper, Decjuba dress, ASOS shoes/bag/rings, Mocha accessories bracelet

I kinda really like these photos. Light-filled, with the greens and amazing blue sky we've been so deprived of down south in Melbourne. I was drawn to the freshness of this green jumper (not quite mint, not quite lime) amidst a range of other pastels and neons. It goes hand in hand with clean, white accessories and I foresee myself wearing it to death in the next couple of months. Can't go wrong with the ease of a jumper + dress combination.

Time is flying but I couldn't be happier that spring is finally upon us! Hopefully that means more sunshine, pretty blossoming florals, lighter colours, and bare legs. Also if you follow me on instagram (@nicoletj) you'd have seen some sneak shots of a shoot I styled a few days back, which was good fun and where I had way too many lollies. Can't wait to share more with you!
