I know I owe this blog a much needed update - I might have skipped off to the other side of the world, hopped on an 11-day tour to visit some amazing cities, met some beautiful people, and now have been sick for 5 days and counting. But let's now start with Paris; the beautiful city of love did not disappoint at all!
It's a city so rich in history and culture - every single structure/building seems to tell a story. Nothing more needs to be said about the iconic Effiel Tower, but one thing that truly (and unexpectedly) stood out to me was the Notre Dame Cathedral. We happened to troop by just as a service was taking place, and honestly, it was the most spectacular experience ever. The sheer number of people in attendance at such a historic venue, coupled with the choir singing works from centuries back - it definitely put a whole new light to the definition of 'gloriously grand'.
I personally loved the stalls along the river banks selling everything from artworks to postcards to flowers and vintage books. And of course I was looking forward to the food! Crepes, in particular!
A truly walkable city, all the main sights can be covered within a couple of days. Lots of cafes from which you could people-watch from (seriously, it's like a national hobby), and seats in the green areas to put your feet up and enjoy an ice cream. We made it down the famous Avenue des Champs-Élysées to finish our day, which had an impressive mix of high street to luxury brands, cafes, cinemas and everything in between!
