STYLING: MONOCHROME

WHITES: Mossman dress; Wittner wedges; ASOS sunnies and backpack
BLACKS: Mossman vest; Stylestalker bra; Witter heels

Model: Holly Schneider
Styling: Nicole Tj
Makeup: Vesna Obradovic
Hair: Christina Charalambous
Assistant: Yasitha Amarasinghe
Photographer: Mim Kempson

The last shoot I styled, I went all out mixing gorgeous bright prints and bold colour, layering statement necklaces in Gaga-inspired fashion that was screaming out for bright yellow and orange eyeshadow to bring it all together. This time I decided to pare it right down, lest you guys out there start to think of me as a crazy print monster, to good ol' black and white - which was actually a bit of a challenge and I had to seriously re-assess the way I was putting the pieces in my head together!

The first things that came into mind were the Wittner sport luxe designs, those ones in particular, that I had seen early last month at the MSFW Runway. A little scout on the Mossman website found this adorable white/cream textured dress - the perfect tennis whites, I thought, and the collared vest (which here has been zipped up along the back). Then I found this amazing mesh Stylestalker bra and dug up these harem pants that have been patiently sitting in my wardrobe, waiting to be worn again. I love playing with contrasts within a concept, hence - feminine tennis-inspired vs. tough boxing-chic!

Thank you Mossman and Wittner for being part of this, and to the incredible team that made it all possible.

BTS: Get Sporty

Sneak peek behind the scenes to shoot #2 that I styled, in collaboration with Mim. (In case you missed it, check out our Gaga-inspired shoot #1 here!) A great deal of admiration for our boxer-ballerina-tennis model Holly, who did a stunning job braving the ridiculous wind chill while the rest of us, who were fully clothed in about 4 layers, mind you, tried our bestest not to turn into ice.

Shot at Ormond Hill with a beautiful view of the coastline stretching towards the CBD. Huge thanks to Mossman and Wittner for your monochrome loans :)

Photos via my iPhone, because while I was thorough enough to bring everything including 3 pairs of sunnies (options are good) and extra sockettes, I forgot to bring my camera. Quite impressed by the photo quality, though.

Can't wait to share the finished images and I promise, you'll be the first to see them, right here x

Model: Kaitie B

So you've seen the instagram updates, you've snuck a peek behind-the-scenes - thank you for waiting.

We started with a loose concept - gaga-like, crazy print, bold colours, big hair - and I let my mind run wild with the countless number of pieces I found while browsing the online stores. It was tricky, however, to narrow them down and come up with something less 'everyday' and something with more of a punch! As Mim puts it: This photoshoot is based on 1950s patriarchal values - the model embodies the character of a housewife who desires to escape the clinically dull, outdated style of her surroundings. She finds solace in fashion, which she uses to take on various personas.

I loved working with the colour, layers and print clashes - the energy of the colour and print in the first outfit, while still feminine, holds a certain assertiveness, while the second was a play on the more 'masculine' top layers paired with the sweetest one-piece.

A huge, massive, grateful thank you to BAM Brands, for providing the beautiful, sweet Amore and Sorvete swimwear, To The Max for the stunning pieces, and Lovisa for allowing me to raid your accessories drawer! And to the team, thank you for a wonderful shoot.

STYLING: GAGA-ED

The long-waited, behind-the-scenes snippet of a shoot that I styled a couple of weeks ago. Yes I enjoy drooling over beautiful outfits, and am most proud of my ability to memorise store items and function as a walking shopping guide. I enjoy people-watching, and wonder why they dressed the way they were. I enjoy picking out clothes, pairing them together in all sorts of weird and wonderful ways.. probably most evident in my own outfit posts. So it was a refreshing and insightful change this time to have a go at styling for a specific concept, gathering my thoughts and pulling my ideas from all corners of the web, and putting them into two, visually exciting outfits. I need to mention special thanks to BAM Brands for your lovely Amore and Sorvete pieces, To The Max and Lovisa for your support and helping me make everything come together literally in the last couple of days!

So here you have it - for now, a happy combination of big curls, bright colours and bagfuls of lollies. I was privileged to have worked with such lovely ladies (and couple of guys) and I can't wait to share the finished shots with you very soon!

Violet & I: Into the Woods II

1. V&I Margherita Jumpsuit, Evil Twin Furry Knit, Jeffrery Campbell Platforms 2. V&I Flamenco Skirt, Mossman Crop Top 3. V&I Kindred Spirit Cropped Jumper, Portmans Skirt, Tony Bianco Boots 4. V&I Blazer, May Dress, Tony Bianco Wedges

So I present to whoever's interested out there, a series of images from my first ever 'proper' photoshoot. Aptly (or unoriginally) named 'Into the Woods', we decided that somewhere in the heart of Mount Dandenong would be the perfect backdrop to complement the outfits I had in mind. These Violet & I pieces are a mix from current and previous collections, featuring a range of printed silks, chunky knits and simple well-tailored blazers. I love how there's something special in the design of each piece, yet they remain so wearable and easily styled - here I have dug into my own wardrobe to complete each individual look.

We had ventured onto a gravel road that seemed way too narrow to be a two-way path and really, there was no turning back once we were on it. Not to be a total girl but I hate creepy crawlies and trust me there were a ton of weird and wonderful creatures out there! Anyway, sometime during the shoot this black thing (a leech perhaps) made its way up the open-toe of my wedge which left me swatting and screaming in horror. Also I almost took a forward tumble off the rock up the top; my 5 inch platforms didn't quite leave me much room to react to save myself. I was rather traumatised.

Nevertheless, I'm so glad to see that the shots turned out beautifully, if I might say so myself ;) Let me know what you think? x

Thanks Thomas and Eric for being such perfectionists with the photos.
