In My Closet!

Welcome to (snippets of) my humble closet! I had the privilege of shooting with the lovely Cassandra and Sebastian from The Urban Silhouette and indeed a closet feature was something I'd never done before. In fact my mother had joked - why would anyone want to see your closet?! One can dream of having a closet rivalling that of Song of Style's (delight yourselves), right? Anyway, back on track, this is my room in the best of states - the moodboard that's happening above my drawers has to be one of my favourite corners, though it was pointed out to me that half the models up there have the same, slightly dazed look. Clearly that's something I like. (Handy tip: push-pins prove handy in displaying your delicate necklaces - trust me, tangled ones are something you don't want to deal with.) I love seeing a beautiful rainbow of colours in a wardrobe and try to colour coordinate mine as much as I can, and in doing so I have come to the realisation that I have a strong preference for white jackets (5, as opposed to 0 black ones), a myriad of prints (mostly florals) and textures, and most certainly not enough basics.

ASOS Competition FINALIST!

Hey world.

You might or might not have come across the wonderful site that is ASOS Fashion Finder - an online fashion community where you can 'create, share & shop', or simply be awed by some lustworthy outfits! I recently joined it to have a look around (it's great inspiration!) and was delighted to have been featured on the homepage a couple of times. Pretty cool. So imagine my joy for a second when I found out that one of my looks had made it into the finals of a street-style competition they are currently running!

Ten finalists of the #whatimwearing competition
Homepage feature - gelato-inspired outfit ;)

Mossman top and skirt; Tony Bianco platforms

The outfit in question is from a shoot I had in collaboration with Alice from Catwalk of Words a few months ago, featuring one of our favourite brands, Mossman! I had been playing around with different prints at the time and loved the visual interest putting together different prints and colours offered. Of course, having a pair of killer shoes helped as well; these lovely sky-high TBs in a beautiful eye-catching shade of red.

With Alice

If you're reading this chances are that you love your fashion/colours/prints/ASOS/Mossman/online shopping/life/blogsurfing/procrastinating/all of the above - and I would very much appreciate your vote towards my look in the competition! It's an open public vote (you don't have to be in Australia!) and I promise it will take literally 2 minutes of your time.

All you have to do is click the 'heart' on my look HERE, and it'll prompt you to sign in with your facebook account to complete the vote. A note of warning: you might get carried away on the site filled with endless fashion inspiration! Voting ends on Monday 25 June so please spread the word as much as you can. The top prize includes a feature in the ASOS magazine and I would LOVE the chance for that, with your help! Thank you <3

MOSSMAN TAKE #2

As promised, here's the second installation from my Mossman collab with Alice from Catwalk of Words! I have been a fan of clashing/complimentary prints of late and I suppose it's really an individual opinion if you like it or not. I love how both pieces I've chosen are great on their own - the striped shirt with a wide cuff and subtle curved hemline; the high waist mini with a metallic hit for a bit of colour and shine! That's what I really like about Mossman, that each piece looks great from afar and packs a punch with its attention to detail. Together with some striking skyhigh wedges and again my nifty Diana, I thought they made for a wonderful ensemble worthy of MBFWA up in Sydney (not that I'm there, but clearly wishing I were)!

Be sure to check out what Alice has to say about the shoot in a few days - hope you enjoy the shots as much as we had fun shooting them!

Prelude to Violet & I

A few weeks ago I met with Anna Linklater, designer of Melbourne-based label Violet & I. It's a beautiful label that embraces the feminine aesthetic with a touch of bohemian influence. Long flowy maxis and vibrant prints feature beside neutral tones and thick knits in the current A/W12 collection,  'Cold Mountain'. I loved how naturally elegant the pieces looked and decided to do a little something with them - can't wait to reveal what I got up to!

MOSSMAN TAKE #1

My love affair with Mossman started over a year ago when I casually walked into the QV store, lured in by splashes of bright chiffons and high waist suedes I had spotted through the store window. There was no turning back - I was pleasantly surprised by the affordable price point and great fashion-forward designs; I left the store scratching my head over how I hadn't previously heard of them, and proceeded to stalk and drool over the lustworthy pieces on their website.

Alice from Catwalk of Words and I have teamed up to bring you our personal take on some of the wonderful pieces you can currently find in store. In my opinion, Mossman has really upped their game this year and has already in 4 months delivered a number of themed collections. I decided to take advantage of the sheer range from the latest collections available instore, to style two outfits that are a reflection of my personal style.

This cropped top could have easily been overlooked, but I am easily drawn towards dots/spots of various sizes and LOVE playing with textures in an outfit! This sheer number with huge velvet spots sat adorably on its hanger and was yelling out for me! Styled this with a suede high waist swing skirt that fans out beautifully and added hints of colour with pink lips, teal platforms and neon green Diana.

I have plans to HUNT DOWN a pair of high waist pants in mini polka dot print to go with this top. (Spotted a Gorman pair a couple months back but foolishly placed it back on the rack. Oh, how it would have been perfect for a double dotted dress-up!)

Check out Alice's style too here and stay tuned for the second batch of shots, coming right up!
